3D Print & Paint an Indiana Jones Fertility Idol
Just to keep things fresh, we’re going to try something new today. With one foot firmly planted in the Star Wars universe, the other foot will venture into the Indiana Jones universe.
To me, one of the most memorable props from the Indy franchise, is the Chachapoyan fertility idol, seen in the opening sequence of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Indy & his hired hands are making their way through the jungles of Peru, looking for fortune & glory. Indy does get his hands on this beautiful, solid gold artifact, only to lose it to his nemesis: Belloq.
After finishing my C-3PO head build, I was pretty excited about the gold finish, and wanted to paint another object with the same metallized effect. In addition to Star Wars, I’m also a big fan of the Indy franchise. I saw that the fertility idol was available on thingiverse.com & instantly downloaded it.
This was a relatively quick project, no assembly required. Once you get past the sanding, the hardest part is waiting for paint layers to cure. Let’s take a look at the procedures, as we join our 3 adventurers…
